Thrush

Hi girls, I currently have thrush . My midwife said it’s safe to take a pessery and cream but don’t use the applicator. I’ve just been to the pharmacy and they wouldn’t give me it because it’s not licensed during pregnancy. Unsure what to do as it does say on the box don’t use if pregnant?

I bought mine from Sainsbury’s when I was pregnant and wasn’t stopped so maybe try a supermarket? ☺️

@Natalie it’s just with it saying don’t take whilst pregnant I’m so scared 😅😅

I went to the GP with thrush and they gave me the pessarys and she never said anything about using the aplicator 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had this too! My midwife assured me it was absolutely safe as long as I didn’t use the applicator so I just pushed it up with my finger and made sure I only used the cream for the time stated! Then I just checked on myself to make sure everything was okay ☺️

It’s no problem at all, go with what the midwife has told you (not sure about the applicator bit, that’s news to me!)

Can you try a different pharmacy? I was sold it fine when heavily pregnant. Or get a prescription from the GP - they you shouldn’t have to pay if you have the maternity exemption certificate

Pressures are fine to use when pregnant, as your midwife has advised you. Try another pharmacy or a supermarket. Did your midwife mention that sometimes it can be more resilient in pregnancy so you may need to do 2 rounds of treatment to clear it up, this is common in pregnancy. Midwife/gp are happy to have your thrush treated as if you have a vb you can pass it on to baby, which is then treatable but they prefer to prevent when possible
