Referrals

Does anyone know if you can ring the doctors to chase up a referral they have done for you for a hospital appointment ?? Or do I just wait for a phone call from the hospital? Getting really impatient😅

Once the referral is made, as GPs, we don't know how long the wait will be. The secretaries at the surgery may be able to find out a rough waiting time for you but essentially, it's a case of waiting. You could always phone up Appointments at the hospital you're going to and ask where you are on the list 😊

If you sign up to "Patients Know Best" (really quick to sign up, just Google it) you'll get notified of the appointment before any letters come through your door. Might be that the information is there but hasn't been posted to you yet. If it's not scheduled there, it's just a waiting game really.

Better to ring the appointments department and they'll be able to see if the referrals been triaged and where its been put in the priority queue
