Breastfeeding & pumping

I’m breastfeeding baby by bottle currently due to weight loss (but weight creeping back up now thankfully), however once she is back to birth weight I’d like to continue feeding her from breast as well as pumping for extra supply and occasional bottle feed from dad or while we are out and about. I’ve ordered an electric hands free pump and currently express every 2-3 hours to keep my supply up. When baby comes back to breast, how much and when should I be pumping to keep the extra supply up? I have absolutely no idea!! Also, if anyone is doing something similar at the moment, how much do you tend to feed baby out of the bottle at a time? As it’s hard to know how much they’d usually get!

Were doing the same thing only she's mostly on breast and I'm just topping her up with bottles. I'm feeding every hour n half alternating between breast and bottle and when I pump I'm getting roughly an oz but I'm trying to up my supply as we think that's the issue as to why she's dropped so much weight x

Im currently doing this as I feared weight loss early on. I put her on the breast, usually of an evening more to soothe her during what I call her witching hour (I also breast feed if we are out and it’s just more convenient than warming a bottle) and then I just mostly pump every 4 hours, for a good 20 min (each boob) session. At the moment she is taking 90ml every 3ish hours, and I PACE feed her. It’s definitely working because she was weighed today and she’s passed her birth weight and midwife was happy.

Oh and I tried a hands free pump, I used a Fraupow and whilst I loved its convenience I found that I get a WAY better collection with the Madela Swing. It’s a bit old school in that you hold it, but I get a way better collection from it.
