My 9 month old son has never loved being in anything that restricts him or his movement....including his high chair. Lately his new thing is swinging his arms around and screaming when he's sitting in it, and is only distracted for short periods with food. He is also worse when me (the default parent) is present. I don't have any advice, but can totally empathize with you. Any tips shared would be helpful!

My son did this a few months ago, he went nuts straight away, so I fed him on the floor for about a month and he just ran around 😅. I then moved the highchair from the living room to the kitchen and things have gotten better, I also have the radio on for him to bop to the music as he eats.

I also am going through this with my nearly 9m old son. Similar to Nikkii, has always hated being contained. Floor picnics work a little here and there but are a bit tricky with messier foods. He tends to be calmer when it's me feeding him but I also sing a lot of silly songs to distract him. Doesn't really help with the eating part a whole lot but keeps him calmer, which I'm hoping will help to avoid negative associations with his chair. Here's hoping other moms have some better tips because girl, I feel your stress and frustration on this one! 😂
