I am going through it

My one month old has an inguinal hernia and breast milk jaundice. The hernia requires surgery. They wanted to get his blood for a cdc/wbc and bilirubin check, poked him five times unsuccessfully, so they just got a heel stick for the bilirubin, waiting on the lab results now. His blood pressure dropped below normal, poor boy is resting now. If anyone has experienced something similar, please let me know

Aw I’m sorry. I know it can be so scary when they are so little. My baby had breast milk jaundice as well. His is slowly going away, I ended up giving him Vitamin D and sunlight every day. I also give him one or two bottles of formula to flush it out (not needed as per pediatrician you can continue breastfeeding I just so happen to be combo feeding anyway so it worked out for me ) this type of jaundice according to my Pd is not harmful to the baby if he is growing in weight and overall seems healthy. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk more about it ! Wishing you and your baby the best!

I have not experienced this but i am sending virtual hugs. It cannot be easy with a little one.

Haven’t been through this, but sending hugs and love your way…🙏🏾💕💕🙏🏾

When my baby was 3 days old she developed jaundice and had to stay in special care. She went up to level 18. She’s now 5 weeks and her eyes are slowly losing the yellow. She had to have photo therapy. Just feed her as much as possible so she can poop and pee it out.

Initial hernia here as well. Waiting to hear back on if it’s going to be surgery, but it’s pretty large so I think so. Hang in there.
