Movicol, how long?

First time experiencing constipation in an infant. Kiddo is seven months, hasn’t pooped since Thursday. We started infant Movicol yesterday. For those of you who have experience with this, how long did it take to clear the constipation? Kiddo has needed to poo but has looked super uncomfortable for days now. I’m hoping when it does come it’s easy to pass and not traumatic. Thanks

Depending on how many sachets your using. I think it's up To 4 for clearing them out. Usually works the same day or next! It's usually a complete shit show poo wise 😂 my daughter was on 1 Sachet to keep her regular For over a year! Once she was potty trained I weaned her off and she has been really Good since xx

1/2 to 1 per day. Although he’s barely had any this morning 😬 managed 1/2 last night. Glad to hear your daughter doesn’t need them any more. Must have been a lot for you to manage.

Have you tried apples ? Or apple puree

Oh yes, and prunes, lots of hydration. The poop is still too much for bub to pass which is why we’ve been to the doctors for help. My concern is the medication will force him to poo and it will still be uncomfortable. I dont want him to have a bad experience and then this be a thing 😬

Oh sorry. For us apple purre always worked or gripe water

You can put it in his milk if helps! Just mix first x

My boys 3and a half and still needs movicol. He was the same he hardly pooed from the get go so I know how you’re all feeling. I had to put it in squash for him to take it so try anything x

From my experience, it takes 2-3 days of taking movicol at least 2x a day to clear a blockage. Sorry you are going through this, I feel for you, we’ve had terrible problems with constipation from about 12 months (she’ll be four next month). Movicol was the only thing that helped my lg - she’s been on it intermittently for about 2.5 years and it’s only in the last six months that she’s finally either grown out of it (we’ve seen GP about it about 5 times and this is what they said every time, that they eventually grow out of it) or the flax seed I put in her porridge every morning is working and we were able to stop movicol. What also helped was taking supplements with good bacteria after she turned 3 (they are not recommended for 3s)
