I have joined a brand as a Brand ambassador which is based on making women feel safer called Hassl & I was actually going to mention this park for better lighting/camers ect! I can send you the link for you to check it out! I wanted to get it demolished but after a while I realised it can improve if there’s better security aswell.
@Amrita I am so sorry to hear that!! That’s exactly why something needs to be done to reverse this condition! I walk through the park to go to work when the weather is nice and when i first moved to Croydon it was my place to relax. I almost got mugged in Reeves Corner once. I take the tram since then but now that the days are longer and there are more people around I started to walk through the park again. I think the park is not going anywhere and since we are the residents, we have the power to make it a safe environment for us and our children! Starting with lights, CCTV and police rounds at least once a day. Last time there was a homeless man with his tent.. living there in the middle of the pagoda! Since I am planning to raise my child here for at least the next 2 years I think that I should put a petition with all the residents and have the council or even the major involved in making this community safe again!!!
@Amrita I hope you are okay. If you want to petition the mayor to do something about this I would back you. Years ago I was on the tram back, and my closest stop was Wandle Park. A guy tried to grab me and followed me, I sprinted across the tracks and up the road and hid behind a car, he gave up looking for me and went back to the tram stop. But I have hated that park ever since. I went there once when my daughter was about 1, there was an off lead dog on the play equipment, and another aggressive dog too

@Claudia Hey,I’m getting there thank you,I’m trying to get myself back to normal! Went to a baby group today & ventured into Croydon which I wouldn’t do last week! But it’s a battle! And I would love to make a petition towards the mayor! As something needs to be done!! I am a brand ambassador for Hassl which is a global brand on making women feel safer! There is a whatsapp community and I was going to start there!! Just need to dedicate myself to it!! I can send you the link on here! Aww it’s okay! It’s something that can’t be changed 😔!! But you’re right maybe we can make it safer! I just want the guy caught but maybe making it safer will be better too! My kind of justice so no other person goes through what I did xx

Thank you please update if you do a petition xx I met a Polish lady last year who got strangled while out with her son by a stranger, police apparently didn't do anything cause he had schizophrenia and she wasn't safe so she was moving back to Poland.
@Claudia Wtf! Wow! This area is scary!! Hope she’s okay? Join Hassl! You’ll be surprised! I have spoken to a Sheffield mayor who came 2nd place who will help us make a petition both locally and national so we can be mentioned in the parliament! I’m already onto it! Hassl is so good xx

What has become of Croydon?! It never used to be this bad when I was growing up there in the 90s and 00s. Now it's known as one of the most dangerous areas in London 😢 I don't live in Croydon anymore (I'm in Sutton) but I'd like to help. I know Sutton and Croydon have a partnership in some of the services they provide so I'll reach out and see what can happen. Tax payer's money needs to be invested into the people and their communities!
@Maria Exactly, considering that we are also supposed to pay council tax (went up to £200 a month in Croydon..) while on statutory maternity pay. That’s just unbelievable. For what? for being stalked and harassed by the drug addict living in a tent in the middle of the unsupervised park? I believe we can fight for this. This afternoon I will post the petition here and we can work from there!

As someone who was attacked there 7 months ago when my daughter was 6 months old! Shes now 1! I would say that park needs to be demolished! It was violent SA & attempted grape! They still haven’t caught him yet! She luckily wasn’t with me! I’m still picking up the pieces mentally! First time I took her out properly on my own since yesterday 😔! Trying to do the same today but don’t know where to go! I live in south Croydon xx
