My midwife recommended I start taking it, so I’ve been taking it for over a week now and haven’t experienced anything bad. I’m due April 2nd (currently 39+1) and am trying to naturally induce labor because they’re talking induction at 41 weeks. I say just do your own research and go with whatever you gut tells you!
Nope. I was reading up on it a little bit the other day and if I recall correctly, I don't think there's really been any conclusive harm shown any more than there has been conclusive evidence that it helps. Pretty much everything at this point is just coincidence or unproven theories about why things help (like simulating natural hormones that affect labor). My doc even offered a membrane sweep next week (which I absolutely will not) and recommended daily sex to encourage bringing on labor. I think castor oil is the main one to avoid as it can be dangerous and lead to dehydration. The rest is likely neutral at worst.
@Melissa Moss did you take it orally or vaginally?
@Jasmine I did both
@Audrey please also remember everyone is different I did primrose and it helped soften my cervix. I also did a membrane sweep and got the ok for a midwives brew drink which has a small amount of caster oil in it. Everyone is different and so are there bodies.
I took it! I had my baby this past Saturday
