Just trust that’s she’ll get rid of it on her own x it’s frustrating but it’s soothing for her

We actually just cold-turkeyed my son off the binky when he turned 1. We replaced it with another comfort object (a small dinosaur stuffie). He always used it to sleep so night 1 was a disaster but after like 3 days of crying a lot he never asked for it again. Was rough but we got through it.

Following….my little girl turns 2 next month and I want it gone by then lol. I have never had to deal with the paci for any of my other children, so new territory and attachment for me to get used to.

It was easy for oldest daughter to get rid of it she didn’t want it at age 4 months old

When my daughter was 3 we took her to build a bear to stiff her binky in her bear!

And more context, hubby is the one who caters to it and gives to her just regularly; the comfort definitely was hereditary from him as he still has to either chew on something at times or have a toothpick or floss pick in his mouth. We lost it one night and I was like “great, I know she will cry but it’s gone now”….he literally ran to the store at 10pm and got another one.

Cut off the tip and did it cold turkey about 1/2 months ago hahahha

Im with @Kathy, cut a hole in it. They'll hate it. Mine bit a hole in it herself and didn't want it since then

Cut a slightly bigger hole at the tip. That's what will cause the suction to stop.

Okay

Ya

We cut a little hole and said paci was broken. It was hard for about 3 days. Then it was alll goood

I cold turkey my daughter as well. And ever since she hasn’t asked for it. And she would use it to sleep and take her naps. But I just tried it and poof we were done with it. She did ask for it maybe twice before taking her naps and I changed the conversation on her.

Cold turkey, we threw it in the trash together, said bye bye. she slept fine without it but didn’t nap for a week, after a week and a half she was back on schedule with naps and we never looked back. Her teeth also went back to normal very quickly.

I gave my kids the bottle instead , and there were fine. And also if they would drop the pacifiers I would throw them away, until I had the last one and she had it only before sleep.

Did you guys also do the bed transition at the same time? My son has been in his big boy bed for a few weeks and he hasn’t really been sleeping well. I was taking the paci away but stopped bc he’s been refusing to sleep as it is. Does anyone know if this is normal?
