milk allergy??

Has anyone’s baby been told they have milk allergy? i exclusively breastfeed and my poor wee girl. Constantly is full of snot and reflux, now mucusy poos. Health visitor said it was fine but she’s doing a poo every nappy change and has a sore bum from all the poos

I also exclusively breastfeed my 4.5 week old. My daughter has a bit of reflux / is sick regularly albeit not larve amounts and poos during pretty much every feed, I think that's pretty normal though. I try and give her some nappy free time during every change if possible. I did wander about a milk allergy as my older daughter was never sick but pooed an equally crazy amount (it did gradually get less though) but I was told if it was milk allergy it would be more projectile sick which she never has been. You could always make Doc appointment if you're worried or speak to them at the 6/8 week check.

I’m breastfeeding but due to a dip in weight, we have had to top up with formula, we’re now on prescription formula for a suspected cows milk allergy. My little girl is also snotty and refluxy which she was when exclusively breastfed and we were told frequent mucusy poos are also normal. Apparently breast milk has a laxative effect to help baby go to the toilet easily so they can essentially go after every feed with no concern. In terms of cows milk allergy symptoms, my baby was crying in pain, tummy was hard, she was constipated and getting severe trapper wind, since changing the formula that we top up with that has now stopped xx

@Megan My boy has all the symptoms of cows milk allergy... Except he's putting on plenty of weight. I mostly breastfeed with a top up of formula on a night too. Have you gone dairy free yourself or just changed the formula? X

@Louise I initially went dairy free as this is what the gp advised although the infant feeding team health visitor has told me to bring dairy back into my diet, I haven’t noticed any difference in her between the two xx
