Colostrum collecting

I know you can hand express however I find that a little tricky, I was wondering what people’s experiences are using a manual milk collector?

Be wary using a pump too early...it can bring on labour. Your colostrum will come in once you've delivered.

I handed expressed and got my husband to just collect it in the syringe cuz you need 3 hands to do this 😂

From what I've been told is that you shouldn't use a pump when pregnant. Might be different recommendations but I've always been told to stick to hand expressing before baby is here. What is it that you're finding hard about it?

i’ve heard you can manually express with hand or pump safely from 37 weeks to collect colostrum before baby arrives. no earlier as can induce labour x

I used a baby bottle lid sterilised and hand expressed into there then sucked it up using a syringe. I then did the same post natally on the ward if it helps so it's not a problem to do. Pumping causes your uterus to contract and it definitely effects them as I did it at 38+5 after waters went to get mine moving and I had 24hrs and doctors wanting to give me a cesarean. It definitely increased them
