Small Car - Car Seats

Mum's what Car seats are we using for our little ones in small 3 door cars? I drive a Fiat 500 and worried I'll struggle to get her infant car seat in and out the back (we have only been using my partners car whilst I recover from a c-section). 360 seat? Infant carrier? Fixed car seat?

Id ask for advice on the Facebook group extended rear facing if you use Facebook

Find you're nearest mommas and pampas they let you try out their in store seats to see if they fit the car etc

@Natasha oh I didn't realise they offered this, great shout!

@Natalie I've not heard great reviews about those groups but I'll give it a go! Ty

Maxi cosi pebble fitted in the back of my fiat 500 it was a bit of a nightmare me and my partner ended up swapping cars 😅.. you can safely rear face in the front with the airbag off though x

I’ve got a Fiat 500 and tbh I’m looking into hire purchase on a new car because I’ve not heard many people saying it’s easy going getting a pram and car seats into a Fiat 😩 I’ve also got a dog so can’t afford to have the back seats down as need two available seats for them both lol. Didn’t even cross my mind before pregnancy 🤣

The avionaut pixel pro 2 is really light making it easiest to get in/out of the back of a Fiat 500 however I have also fit a Cybex cloud T and maxi cosi pebble 360 pro in mine- they both fit but are harder to put in due to weight/awkward angle getting into back seats x

Had a fiat 500 for the first 10 months with my son, the joie spin 360 did fit, but had to be behind the passenger seat with that seat pulled as far forward as possible, so was very tight if there was 2 of you in the car! It’s a bit of a pain, especially if you want to go out for the day with buggy/bags etc but is manageable.

Got a 3 door Mini Cooper and use the joie spin 360. Wouldn’t cope with a non 360 seat in a 3 door car.

@Megan I wasn't sure on the front after finding no information online, this would be more convenient if safe to do, ty

@Ellie Luckily we're fine with the pram in the boot but three doors is proving a bit of a nightmare 😂 hoped I'd be able to wait it out a bit longer for a new car but might have to do the same

@Shannon Thank you! I might have to try them out at a shop

@Zoë thank you, this seems like an affordable option

@Lauren thank you, I might see if I can try this out in a shop

Personally, I'd change the car, as a fiat 500 is just way too small, as is any 3 door car in my opinion! I have a Dacia Duster, awesome car for space and cost!

@Rebecca ty, unfortunately a huge expense that will happen eventually just wanting something in the meantime and an anxious driver i won't be getting anything too big

@Madison it is safe as long as the airbag is turned off .. car seat groups also confirm that it’s safe, it would be much easier with a fiat 500 x

@Gabrielle thank you for the pic!! Looks like it'll be doable(but not fun) whilst i save for a new car 😂

@Madison absolutely doable! I need to pass on a very helpful mantra though, anytime I had to put the buggy or car seat in or out of the car I would, out loud, say Calm Calm Calm so I didn’t throw the buggy in the road 😂 would definitely recommend getting a yoyo buggy or something small like that (which you can get second hand) because the frame of the buggy was genuinely the worst part of it all.

Definitely doable! If you're car is still working well, no issues and fully paid off it seems crazy getting a new one especially with how expensive things are lately! Obviously be more convenient with a bigger car but it's the expense isn't it especially whilst on mat leave. I have seen people have car seat in the front of fiats alot too. I have a mini and it was tricky at first getting everything to fit but once you get the hang of it you forget about it. X

@Natasha thank you, needed that reassurance 💖
