Sleep help!

My 6 week old has not napped for weeks… I just don’t know what to do anymore… nothing I do can get her to nap any longer than 20 minutes…. This then causes all sorts of trouble in the evening… she doesn’t sleep great at night either so I’m absolutely broken… Any tips??? She used to hate swaddling but I’m re-trying this again as I’m really running out of options….. she doesn’t have a dummy and I’m avoiding it but is this something that would help?

Have you tried a sling? I love my koala and my LO sleeps for two or three hours when in it but will only sleep 20mins otherwise

Love to dream sleep suits have worked a treat for mine LG. She can go 5 hours over night sometimes without waking but mostly 3-4 hours. Day time I also use a carrier. She sleeps well whilst I do bits and pieces around the house or a long walk in the buggy keeps her sleep. When she is awake is she upset? Could she been struggling with wind or anything? We do use a dummy. It def helps to give her comfort in between bottles and when she isn’t laying on me. It also decreases the risk of SIDS.

😩 As for the dummy, some parents find it helps with soothing, but it really depends on what works for you and your little one. Just hang in there; it’ll get better! Have you tried any white noise or a calming routine before naps? 🌟

@Chloe I did buy a sling but just didn’t feel secure but have ordered a soft carrier to try! She doesn’t seem to like being in the carrier with me but falls asleep when in it’s my husband!

@Terri @Rebecca PearsonI did buy those but she hated them so haven’t swaddled her since but I brought the tommee tippee sleeping bags which have the swaddle option… I did swaddle her in last night and she wasn’t as noisy. I just can’t seem to navigate when her naps should be to get her into a sleeping bag in time! When she’s awake, she’s good as gold until about 3pm. She barely cries and just loves to watch and stare at everyone! I have just put the dummy in the steriliser in prep to use it tonight… we are established BF now so think it’s okay! I just fear over-reliance! I use white noise every night 😬

@Paige do you have any sling libraries near you? They are great for trying different ones and getting support - my sling is a lifesaver! I also have used the car or pram if he's fighting a nap, that helps us. Good luck x

We use a swaddle at night, hot water bottle in next to me crib to warm it up (then obviously remove before baby goes in) dummy to soothe if needed, white noise machine with red light, that seems to help for ours. But in regards to day time naps, our little one struggles every morning with napping unless it’s contact naps, minute I try and put him down in Moses basket he’s wide awake within minutes, sometimes a little longer if the rockit is on (supposed to be used on a pram but works on Moses basket too), hopefully you’ll find something that works for you soon!

I am in the same situation 😭 He stays a maximum of 10 minutes now in his moses basket. It's so hard. My baby hasn't pooed in 3 days and is really uncomfortable. Does your baby maybe has a disconnect that is keeping them awake?

@Hannah glad I’m not the only one! What do you mean disconnect? C

@Paige have you joined the babywearing UK group on FB or you can go to a sling library near you? I tried a sling with my first born and never felt secure so didn't wear it much but with this baby I've done lots of research in correct position for baby to be in and feel so secure now I can wear it for hours and get stuff done around the house/go for a walk etc and chase my toddler around. Most bubs don't like going in it initially but if you bob around and go for a short walk they generally like the movement if you push through. Maybe have a play around and see if you and bub can get more comfy, it's been lifechanging for us but everyone is different - hope you can find something that helps anyway x

@Paige I'm sorry! I was half asleep when writing that. I meant discomfort. X
