Loft storage

Stupid question... We have so much stuff we aren't using for June babe anymore, but want to save it for future in case we're lucky to have another - such as bassinet for pram, snooze pod, newborn play mat etc. I'm new to living in a place with an upstairs and downstairs, never mind having a loft!! (I grew up in a flat, with parents that rented from the council, so these "issues" are a new world for me) How do I go about storing this stuff in the loft? I don't want to leave it in as is, in case it gets dusty/ dirty/ mouldy etc. Any tips? Thank you! Xx

I’d definitely make sure you wrap or box it up as lofts can be quite damp. For clothes etc we usually put them in plastic storage crates with lids, the kind you can buy from Tesco or b&m etc. or in vaccuum bags. For bigger things I’d maybe bag it up in a big bin bag or something. Just a note to say it’s not recommended to store car seats in the loft if you are thinking of doing that when baby outgrows that x

Air tight stuff is always best so like vacuum bags and then into a storage box for things like clothes blankets etc. Then for bigger items we get them cleaned, wrap them in cling film and then put a big wheelie bin bin bag over them before putting them in the loft. This has always worked for us🥰 x

I bought some thick waterproof storage bags to put things in.

@Simone didnt know this was a thing!! Sounds so much simpler than what we have been doing🤣 x

Yeah I got some off amazon and you can get some in all sizes so I've been putting several vacuum bags of clothes in one and then the bassinet etc in another. Really useful!!

Thanks so much ladies. That's so helpful xx

@Anna why is it not recommended to store car seats in the loft? I know you can only keep them so long, but is it keeping in the loft until that time that's the problem or something else? X

Our car seat went mouldy in our loft after just 9 months so definitely need to make sure it's wrapped really well.

It’s something to do with the extremes in temperature and the fact that they can go mouldy which can affect their integrity so they wouldn’t be as safe in a crash x
