Baby not drinking much

Hi, just looking for some advice. My baby is 4 months a week today and she will usually only drink 3-4 ounces per bottle. We feed her every 2-3 hours. I tried sticking with a routine but because she doesn’t seem to drink an awful lot each feed it’s really hard as sometimes she’ll be hungry say an hour later and then only drink another 3 ounces rather than say having 5 or 6 at the first offering. I’m concerned this is a reason why she can be a very upset baby at times, as if she’s hungry but then it’s confusing because she doesn’t take much. And I also think this is having a knock on effect with her sleep. She doesn’t like to go down for naps, she sometimes will be awake for 3+ hours before she gives in. And then at night her wakings are becoming more frequent - again it’s most probably because she isn’t getting enough throughout the day. Should I be worried that she isn’t drinking 5/6 ounces per feed? Any tips?

this is also happening with my daughter she’s 4months + 12 days and she used to drink 5 ounces no problem every 4 hours we had a great schedule and she was sleeping through the night. Now she’s only taking 3-4 again every 2-3 hours and is extremely irritated when going down for a nap. she has a habit of aggressively rubbing her face when she’s sleeping so that’s when i tend to start put downs but as soon as i start she wails! it takes a longggg time of rocking and bouncing now to get her to nap. She used to sleep throughout the night now she wakes up maybe twice and just cries.

we think it’s her sleep regression and she’s teething so it’s the best of both worlds 😬. her naps used to be 2 hours now it’ll be a miracle if she’ll stay asleep for 30 min. she used to soothe herself too. i didn’t need to rock her or anything i’d just lay her down and she’d fall asleep. now she absolutely needs contact naps to get some rest

Some babies unfortunately are just snackers. Mine was (kind of still is). She never drank the high amounts you'd expect except during growth spurts, and generally only took 60 to 160 mL per feed (usually 120). Sometimes you just have to go with it. I think snacking may have helped some with reflux because if she drank less she would spit up less frequently.

My son just turned 6 months today and every feed during the day he has 4 oz…. I’ve tried to give him more and he just legit does not want it. At night though since his sleep is longer in stretches, he’ll generally drink 5-6 oz then ! I wouldn’t worry unless your pediatrician told you otherwise.

@arial wow this sounds just like my baby and how she’s changed too!!!

@Hannah how’s it going? it’s sooo hard putting her down. she’s still smiling but i can say ready to take a nap and she freaks out
