Hopefully this will help someone!

If you have sore, cracked nipples and now breastfeeding is painful due to baby needing to breakthrough a scab over and over again. Use Coconut oil!!! A doula sent me a coconut oil treatment for cracked nipples, I ran it past my midwife and she agreed and gave me the go ahead. I was told my nipple would take 1-2 weeks to heal…. It’s been two days and it’s healed!! All I did was take organic coconut oil we had in our pantry and covered the nipple and areola after every feed. So happy with the results!

It’s didn’t hurt? I just kept using my breastmilk to heal my nipples and it worked but yet my nipple still was hurting like sore. Do we need to wipe it off before feeding baby? Is there a chance you have a picture of it so I can look for it at the store?

Please also check why nipples are hurting :) Coconut oil does not need to be wiped off but do not apply right before feeding

@Rachel I used my breastmilk too but it was not doing much for me, I also tried the nipple ointments and that wasn’t helping either plus it hurt to put on my nipple as it was so sensitive. You don’t need to wipe it off but you can if you want to, as long as it sits for about 15-30 minutes.

@Gloria I did check! And corrected the bad latch that he had for 1-2 days. This is also my third baby and with my others I always thought there was just the ointments which I didn’t love for a few reasons. So it was nice to find something I already had in my pantry and has been far more gentle to apply.

@Samantha-Jo ok thank you 😊 I’m sorry it wasn’t working for you! I’m glad the coconut was working:)

Yep coconut oil or lanolin works wonders. For cradle cap or baby dry skin also. I use it for myself 😂 cuticles etc
