I had 2x 2nd degree tears and one was similar to an episiotomy cut. I had to have stitches too. I found using warm water and cleaning the area with that, then applying little to no pressure with a tissue and dabbing dry and ensuring my maternity pad (lilets) was always clean and spray some spritz for bits. It really helped with the sting however my biggest tip would be to keep on top of paracetamol and ibuprofen, especially during the nights! I would often forget and I could really feel a difference. Xx
Baths! I used to bath nightly just to feel the relief! And keep on top of painkillers!
Pee leaning forward! I would be in the worst pain when I peed 😭
Epsom salt bath daily
As everyone else said keep on top of painkillers. Try and spend time with no underwear on (I used to put an old towel on the bed and have a lie down) so you can get some air to it. Be careful how you sit, I found that laying down and not sitting up right really helped so there was no pressure down there. Peri bottle with warm water every time you wee was a god send. But essentially it just takes time to heal, it felt like it took forever for me to feel back to normal but it does eventually get better. Just try not to push yourself too much during the first couple weeks ❤️
Witch hazel pad liners were a god send!
Thankyou everyone, it’s so sore and stingy right now only on day 4 of healing though😫🥲
All the pain meds, try not to drag/scoot across things like the bed or sofa, I used a slushie drink pouch thing (that we were never going to drink lol) wrapped in a towel to put on my bits for the first day or two to help with swelling, put maternity/sanitary pads in the freezer (they're not moist so won't freeze but they're nice and cool when you put them on), keep yourself clean and make sure you dry well, lay on the bed with a towel under you and your bits out, wipe/pat with moist toilet tissues rather than regular dry tissue. I used my LGs healing cream/sudocrem, not sure it was a wise decision 🤷 the initial pain will go soon, however I got shooting pains randomly for months after, and I could feel the scar/was uncomfortable during intercourse for close to 9m afterwards. It's not just a surface wound, it's deep tissue, it takes a while to fully heal. I suppose it may depend on how you were cut though.
Keep on top of pain relief, keep an eye out for infections (smell, puss etc), make sure you keep them dry. I used to use a fan or a slightly warm hairdryer after a shower and let them air out as much as I could (laying on the bed with a towel down and nothing on my bottom half). If they continue to be painful then get them checked. Sorry, it’s not fun :( x
