If they are getting annoyed at how slow the milk flow is change the teat but that's typically around 3-4 months, Book your GP 6 weeks check, baby's ears don't need to be cleaned until they're two years old a specialist told me
Your car seat will have a specific height or weight at which you take it out. You can find the manuals online for most of them incase you’ve lost it 😊 Nappies wise, look at the weights on them, it’s worth basing it on the minimum weight. By the time they reach the maximum weight you tend to get poonami, the other thing to be careful with is sizing up your vests so it’s not too tight on baby’s nappy
Just wipe baby’s ears when they have a bath, you don’t need to clean earwax out properly any time soon
Thank you all! I just feel like I have no idea of what I'm doing!
-when they are falling asleep before finishing the bottle or irritant -when it becomes a hinderance/baby doesn’t fit in seat with it anymore -nappies on the front have a line either side of the tag doesn’t reach/meet the line they are too big the side tags should be able to pass those lines or if everytime baby pees/poos it’s leaking - Warm damp cloth, do not push anything inside the earhole it’s self. - it should get booked for you but if u have not been contacted atleast a week before contact them. - if struggling to digest it usually comes in a form of colic, reflux upset stomach or constipation (signs are usually arching of back and wriggling and and sharp motion of drawing their legs in (sometimes separately or together) all accompanied by a screaming high pitched kind of cry ( I suggest looking up baby cry cues as this will help you to recognize type of cry n what they’re asking for they sound slightly different just great to kno in general)
Silent reflux my son had it I noticed it with him gulping in his sleep, waking up being sick/choking or dribble with bit of sick in it. To prevent it we slept him with small pillow so he was at around 30 degree angle for 15-30 mins it helps the milk to settle in stomach and also did extended burping sessions with different positions
Grace replied to your questions, I just wanted to add, 5 months old baby herr, no family around. ChatGPT was my best friend.
Honestly, I changed teat sizes around on the bottles but my daughter didn’t actually get along with some of them. I was told that if it seems like baby is sucking a lot faster and harder then that means they need the next teat level as some have faster flows. I started with the slowest and my daughter was always a slow drinker. She got to like 4 months and started drinking a lot faster and harder so we changed to a fast flow and she struggled with that one as she’d suck on it and loads of milk would come out. It was trial and error for me until we found med flow worked best but she still leaked more than the slow one. If you have the car seat instructions it should tell you on there. I used to size up nappies as soon as the nappies she wore were fitting a bit tighter and I could see after she’d had her nappy on if there were any red marks. You can clean baby’s ears with a small cotton bud dipped in a bit of baby wash and water, just don’t stick the bud into the
Ear canal as that can push wax down(same as recommended for adults). Wax tends to come out on its own quite easily so it just needs a lil mop up around the ear. My GP got in touch with me but you can always get in touch if they haven’t booked you in on time and you’re worried. If baby struggles to digest formula or breast milk, likely they will be uncomfortable and you’ll definitely be able to know if something is wrong, definitely watch out for changes in poo as well. That’s a very reliable way. Honestly I used to drive myself mad with questions and worries. How will I know how to dress baby for warm weather or cold? And also the same worries you have. Over time you get to know your baby and you will be more in tune with your baby too
Some of these you will work out yourself, like sizing up teats and nappies. For nappies its too many poonamies or they are getting tight around the leg or tummy. There’s no specific time, we just realised one day it feels too small, so size up. Same for teats, the flow is too slow or they are working too hard, then try sizing up. Always good to get a few sized up things now so you’re prepared for that change. Car seat has size and weight limit, defo read the recommendation. I had to book the 6 week check up myself so get that in. I had to wait so it was more like a 10 week check up. With struggling to digest, check out the poos, if its watery or just doesn’t look right, get it checked out just to be sure. For reflux, not sure about silent as my LO had reflux, the milk just dribbled out, didn’t bother him. So we stayed upright for 15-30 mins after feeds and tilted the top end of his bed to keep the feed down. Hope that’s helpful
