Mine was an emergency c section, not planned so the biggest pulling me back was the mental trauma. I wasn’t prepared for a c section at all so it took me longer to recover. I think pain wise it’s all the same, it took me about 3-4 weeks to recover enough to be able to do day to day activities. For tips I would say, stool softeners the first couple days, keep the stitches clean, you will bleed down there even if you have a c section so stock up on disposable underwear and pads, if you have help from your husband or families take it all without feeling bad, don’t let your mind guilt trip you. If you’re breastfeeding eat well and stay hydrated because the c section scar hurts pretty bad from breastfeeding and your uterus contracting. Take all the time you need, your kiddo won’t go anywhere in 3-4 weeks. Focus on healing it’s extremely important

My specialist ob say I'm possibly going to have a c-section and to make sure I bring gum for after. I thought it was weird then a lot of posts on Instagram about gum after c-section started appearing on my feed....

Pretty straightforward and uneventful. Was up and showering 4 hours after surgery. Keeping up with painkillers is a must. Hold a pillow to your scar site when you cough or sneeze as it hurts otherwise. The only thing I needed help with was getting in and out of the shower. I drove after 2 weeks. I think just resting when needed and taking it easy helps but keeping moving helped aid my recovery and avoids any issues with blood clots etc. Peppermint tea really helped with trapped wind and bloating too! Also if you're planning on breastfeeding, just be aware that it sometimes takes a little longer for your milk to come in x

I had an emergency c section so I was not mentally prepared or even prepared but I’ve seen bringing gum will release the gas build up from being open on the table. Best of luck to you 🫶🏼

I have an adjustable bed but if I didn’t, I would use lots of pillows to sleep and rest at an angle to ease the pain. Keep walking even when it hurts. Plan to take your time doing everything for a couple weeks afterwards. Don’t lift anything heavy. If your partner can bring you your baby and other heavy items that you might need to hold, ask him to do so. Incision care is really important. The 3rd or 4th day is usually the hardest. Try to have help close by to hold your hand when you need to stand up.

@Stacey 🇵🇸 can you give me some tips on incision care pls and recommends some products pls ? The hospital don’t tell you much here 😭

Yes! I’m sorry they aren’t helping you to prepare, that’s wild. So you want to keep it clean and as dry as possible. Shower for the next few weeks, don’t bathe, and don’t scrub. Gently wash with the soap they give you. I used it everyday. They’ll probably use steri-strips across the incision- let them fall off on their own which should happen in about a week. (tbh mine did not fall off until my 6 week check in but when the doctor took them off, I didn’t have any scarring.) Wear loose clothing. For about 4 weeks I just wore a really long shirt or a comfortable shirt with loose jockey pants.

@Stacey 🇵🇸 thank you !!

Sure thing 💖
