Circumcision

Can anyone recommend a place they went to to get their baby boy circumcised. I had two recommendations but apparently places have an age bracket they want the child to meet. For example my son is about 3 months going on 4 (he’s also a premie). Both places said he had to be either younger then 1 or 2 months. Thank you guys!

I don’t have any sons so I could be wrong but don’t they do this once they are born in the hospital?

Our doctor stressed about age, it’s really more about weight. One of the pediatricians in our medical group does them, he just needed to be under 10 lbs and it was so he could fit in the little table they strap their legs to for the procedure. We are with the sutter medical group and live in Santa Cruz, and had it done literally this morning! It was done very quickly.

I could be wrong but I don't think they do it at this age. It would have had to been when they were in the hospital or a few weeks old. It would be very painful now for a 3-4 month old.

I recommend Gentle Circumcision in Culver City. My son was also a premie so they didn’t do it when he was born and in the NICU. He was 11 days shy of three months when we had the procedure done.

I’m currently in south San Jose,Santa Clara County.

Apparently the surgery is known to be more cosmetic now days then necessary. So my medical customer service line didn’t have a listing for it available.

@Savannah what if you told them it was for religious purposes?

They actually do not offer the service in the hospital anymore, I had my baby boy in December at Methodist Hospital in Sac. I had got referred by two different pediatric offices to Doctor Daniel McCrimons (916) 451-8430. He’s located in Sac and was great, although the cost is $380 out of pocket. I’m not sure if he has an age range… he did our boy at about 1 month old. It’s worth a try!

If you’re willing to drive to Sacramento from SJ, Dr. Angelo Nazarino at Timberlake Pediatrics does them. That’s where I took my son after it was recommended by the hospital. It’s was $300 out of pocket which included the procedure and a follow up one week later. Super nice guy and he did a great job. I don’t believe there’s an age requirement at his office but my sons was done at 3 weeks so I’m also not 100% sure. Super easy to to contact and schedule with them though so it couldn’t hurt to call and ask :)

I really wish that they would talk about this more bc we had the same problem as many are talking about here. Only one of the doctors on rotation at the hospital we delivered at actually did circs. This was so strange to us bc leading up to my son’s birth, we kept getting asked if we wanted a circ. Literally had to hunt the dr down to get this done before we left the hospital.
