The milk out (which is the issue I have) and they can help with all of this xx
As an example I’ve just been sat in bed with baby attached to the boob for about an hour and half constantly feeding on and off 😂😂😩
Im in the same boat, he’s incredibly fussy often still even after the breast and I end up topping up with formula for us to both be able to cope but then that impacts supply. I spent all of day 4 breastfeeding (7hours total, 19 feeds) and since then he’s been a bit more settled after feeds as I think it increased my supply, so now I’ve become a bit more tolerant to putting him back and forth between both breasts until he’s settled and then as a last resort o offer formula once or twice a day max. I also have started pumping where I can and have ordered a medela pump to pump when I offer formula and increase my supply
Thank you both! It's very helpful ❤️❤️
LC support early can be key. Also try hand expression, skin to skjn, and hands on pumping. The first days are important to milk supply buildup so keep trying. Here some tips from our blog hope it will be helpfull https://mylee.life/blogs/mylee-blog/breastfeeding-initiation-guide-first-days
I’d always suggest booking a session with a lactation consultant - they can check baby is latched on properly and help support with any issues - I’m booking one for myself this week as although baby is feeding, I’m pretty sure she’s getting more of the first milk and less hindmilk so is v fussy. (4 weeks old) Pumping never gets the same amount out as baby actually feeding does, so please don’t panic if you aren’t getting anything out as baby probably is. Google some videos on how to tell if they’re feeding properly (suck swallow reflex etc) Also especially when so young they will Cluster feed lots so even if you have just fed and 5 minutes later baby wants feeding again - it’s normal. They’re building your supply :) Supplementing with formula can affect that if it is just cluster feeding and not a supply issue but as I said a lactation consultant would be able to advise you properly and support :) it might be that baby seems to latch well but actually isn’t effective at getting **
