Formula

Hello! My baby has been exclusively breastmilk . Bottle and nipple . But due to a potential cow milk allergy they suggest to stop and start formula . I am still pumping but I have started the hypoallergenic formula that doesn’t have cow milk today . So no boob . I can’t wean bc of the allergy . How long did it take ur baby to adjust? He has daycare on Monday and I am just scared to send him with formula bc I’m not sure if he will be adjusted yet. I am not offering no boob today or tmrw

I found out my son has the milk protein allergy when he was 1 week old. We were combo feeding, so I’d nurse him then supplement with formula. I cut dairy out of my diet to continue breastfeeding & switch formula to Similac Alimentum. Had to stop breastfeeding around 5-6 months due to lack of supply but stuck with the Alimentum formula. I wonder why they didn’t recommend cutting dairy from your diet instead

They did! But it would take a bit to get out of my system and he was miserable! Always crying and seeming so uncomfy!

Please check out Free To Feed! My baby girl has a severe cows milk protein allergy, she gets a rash and vomits if it even touches her skin. If I wait 6 hours on the nose from eating dairy to feed her she is completely fine, no reaction. Don’t be afraid to keep breastfeeding and look into the studies they pull info from! https://www.freetofeed.com/post/how-long-proteins-last-in-your-breastmilk

*Most studies that suggest waiting several weeks to continue breastfeeding are based on symptoms baby is experiencing, not actual detection of the protein. It DOES take time for their gut to heal whether you switch to formula for a few weeks or not
