Sitz bath with witch Hazel in it and bed rest really helped me with my first when I had an episiotomy. But I was on alternating Paracetamol and ibuprofen for at least i week can’t remember how long exactly. This time I’ve had a natural tear and it wasn’t painful after which is interesting.
If over the counter pain meds aren't cutting it, contact your GP for something stronger. That's what I did, and was encouraged by my midwife. Make sure to tell your GP if you're BF as certain meds you can't have. I suffered in pain for a few days before doing anything about it, don't be me! Equally ice packs really help, plenty of rest I found the days I overdid it were much worse, I sat on a pillow in all chairs which helped a little. It does ger better 🫶🏼
Ring triage in the morning and they’ll see you and prescribe you antibiotics and gels and see you weekly if the pain persists. There’s a new service which they provide and will see you up until baby is 1 if problem still occurs or until you’re feeling better xxx
You can buy a little rubber ring to sit on, it really helped me. Only like £5 on amazon. Keep topped up on paracetamol and lots of water so your urine is diluted! Xx
I had this with my second baby. I went to triage and they said the pain was most likely due to the exposed stitches. They cut some of them off and this helped a lot.
Contact the hospital where you gave birth. I went and I was given antibiotics and 2 creams to use and am going to be restitched once healed.
