Colic is a symptom, not a cause. You can't say "breastfed babies can't have colic" because they can. "Colic is defined as excessive and inconsolable crying in a healthy baby for no apparent reason, often lasting for more than three hours a day, at least three days a week, for more than three weeks." What was your birth like? If it was a long / difficult birth or you needed assistance such as forceps or a C section then consider taking your baby to a cranial osteopath, there can be a lot of tension stored up in their little bodies. I took my son to Cheadle Osteopathy (Stockport) and they were great. In terms of intolerance, you can test this yourself by cutting out one thing at a time for a period of 2-3 weeks at a time, keep a food diary and see if you can find a cause. One thing I will say though is that wanting to be attached to you all the time is not unusual :) all they have ever known is being tucked up warm inside your womb, it's human instinct for them to want to be held all the time xx

Heya, I’d urge you to contact the best breastfeeding consultant, who is also based in Alderley edge; Amanda Marks. Breastfeeding babies never have colic, it could be growth spurts and urge to be feeding more. Witching hour is usually the worst 4-10pm, when babies are really unsettled, so a walk with the sling would be a good idea, ideally by someone else so baby doesn’t smell the milk on you. Also, you could start pumping, bottle of pumped milk before bed and dummy now, as the milk would have been established by now. Another thing that’s helpful for the letdown is hand expressing for 30 seconds before and after each breastfeed. But contact Amanda, she’s absolutely incredible.
