@Steamtrane Family she always bites me hard no matter how many time I say no she also robs her head and ears a lot I thought maybe sensory issues and she seemed yesterday to be loooking at tthe wheels of her ride on toy eye leveled ? My little brother has autism and I’m wondering if she has it too
It's possible, my son loves wheels, if I walk him in pram or I trike he has to lean down and watch them going round, misses anything else happening just staring at the wheels, he also loves toy cars and his pram and anything that spins. He often spins in circles and is obsessed with rocks stones and crystals Best eya is as you know go for assesment. How old is your boy?
@Steamtrane Family my daughter is turning one in a few days but because my little brother has autism I see some signs and for sure sensory issues my ped is being stubborn that it’s normal behaviour and will pass and refuses for us to do testing before 18 months … but seeing my little brother starting showing signs as early as my daughter age im wondering if we shouldn’t push more for testing or at least a second opinion
The main difficulty with testing any earlier is that a huge part of autism is around communication and social behaviour. If you test before most kids are able to do this, then you would over diagnose. Biting and rubbing ears is not sufficient to diagnose autism, although I'm not saying your child doesn't have it. And it sounds really difficult to deal with too 😔 Best thing to do is continue to make a list of things you notice and when, so that when the time comes you can discuss again with the doctor. Some things to consider although this is not an exhaustive list or diagnostic in any way, it's just examples: Does LO babble/try and say words/mimic words or actions or emotions? Does she point or put your hand/finger to things? Does she try and get your eye contact? Does she show interest in people or other children? Does she smile socially? What does she do when she plays? Does she hand you things when playing?
@Sophie she does make eye contacts she doesn’t wave she used to but stop she does babble and try to say letters she does smile to us but doesn’t hand us toys when she plays she seems to be in her bubble a lot she doesn’t put my hands to things Here’s a list of what she does : -clapping -doing no with the head -babbling -eye contacts -smiling laughing specially when it’s miss Rachel lol -understands how toys work example her ball toy she puts the balls in -cruising -using her walker sometimes to walk around -pulls herself up -knows to climb things including couch stairs etc Reason why im concerned -excessive biting (all day everyday and always hard -eye leveled toys obsession -doesn’t recognize her name -doesn’t wave anymore -doesn’t point or give toys -only communicates while babbling but not directly to us mostly with toys -head rubbing and ears rubbing maybe sensory issues (no infections have been detected) -gets upset very easily and tantrum
I'm trying to get my son diagnosed he's two years three months. My neice got diagnosed at two. I've been told by health visitor will probably get pushed away if earlier than three years and I'm like no because my neice was diagnosed at two! And loads of others diagnosed earlier so I'm wondering if they do it by postcodes which is so wrong
My son used to wave and say bye bye bye so cute then suddenly stopped and hasn't done it since. I'm wondering if it's Regressive autism for us
@Steamtrane Family at two ?! Lucky her ! my son is about to turn 4 and has been on waiting list for a year I was thinking of going through right to choose as I heard it’s quicker but idk if I can since he’s already on the waiting list also some providers only take people from a certain age.
@Sarah yeah very lucky, I've heard of people getting them early, I'm wondering if it's faster in certain cities than others, that's what one of my friends said
They were waiting about three months I think, which isn't that long in the grand scheme of things
My boy pulls my hair alot, scratches my face, really hurts my scalp and lost so much hair 😢he also bites me, bit my nipple which caused big open wound so had breast feeding struggle recently but still going. My son has autism, we are waiting for referal to be assessed and that but know for sure he does. I think children without autism can also behave this way and can be a faze. What other signs does she have?
