All depends how many people are having a C-section and if there are no emergencies. I had to be in for 8am I had a woman go and have hers before me. I was in having the c section at around 11:30. I had to stay two nights because I had pre eclampsia. If it all goes well you would probably be discharged the next day x
Sorry if that doesn’t make sense
Depending on the state, the hospital cannot legally keep you and your baby there. I know I’m going to leave same day!💛💛Congrats Mamas 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷☺️🥰
I had my section on the Thursday morning at 9:39 that’s wen he was born , bk on the ward by around 10:30 got up to walk about 1pm and I was home on the Friday xx
I got asked to be at the hospital for 7am the Monday morning and I got taken to my bed on the ward and was given 2 gowns for front and back and compression socks and was asked to be changed into them for 10am. During this wait I had the surgeon, midwife’s, anaesthesiologists etc come along individually and introduced themselves and to take some details and explain things further etc which was reassuring. they came to take me to theatre around 11:30 and baby was born 12:47pm. They came around 7am the Tuesday to take bloods and take my catheter out and I asked to be discharged and they said as long as I passed a good amount of urine by 2pm I could. I was up and walking and felt ready to go home just had to wait on the discharge which was around 7pm and they sent me home with blood thinning injections, paracetamol, ibuprofen, morphine and iron tablets
You have to stay in for a minimum of 24 hours. If you have complications or need further support you'll be in longer
I don’t know what country you’re in. Where I am in the US it’s standard to stay 2-3 nights provided all goes well. I had to be at the hospital at 1:45 for a scheduled C-section at 3:45. They were a bit backed up so baby was born at 5:32 on a Thursday and we got to go home Sunday afternoon. My baby was also 36 weeks so they wanted us to stay the third night.
This was great to read because I’ve been wondering the same thing. This is my second baby, 1st scheduled cesarean. I go in at 5AM for a 7:30AM scheduled cesarean on Monday. I’m honestly hoping to be home Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning at the latest. My last elective cesarean I was restless because of all the interruptions and check ins. So I’m wanting to go home asap if I can lol
It really depends on a lot of factors! I was told to come in 6:30am and there was one other woman booked who came in at the same time. I was chosen to go first for whatever reason (my medical stuff was worse than hers I think) and baby was out around 10am. I stayed in for 3 days but mostly because of baby feeding issues. All my friends who have had electives were in one night and discharged the next day
If you’re from the UK, they aim to discharge you around 24 hours after as long as checks are ok and baby is ok! 👌🏼
I had to go hospital at 11am, my baby was born at 12:40. They did not mess around. I was very lucky the day had gone smoothly! I went home the next day. We were ready to go before the 24 hours were up but waited 6 hours to get pain meds.
I had mine Sunday morning was booked in for 8.30 they told me get there for 7am baby was born by 10.13am and I was home by Wednesday but could of been Tuesday I asked for an extra night to try get baby to latch on properly x
At my hospital you go in two hours before the procedure and have a two night stay after. It was nice to stay this long because they were able to keep me on toradol while I was in the hospital, which is a med they can’t send you home with. This is a major surgery and having extra hands on deck in the hospital is very helpful! In the US, it seems the two nights is pretty common
Do you have a scheduled time? I had to be at the hospital at 8:30 for a 10:30 c-section. I was actually pushed a day because there were so many emergencies scheduled the day before. Your OB can call the charge nurse in L&D and see what the schedule looks like so you have an idea of how long you might wait. It is normal for women at the hospital where I gave birth to spend 3-4 days in the hospital after a c-section (24-48 hours for a vaginal birth) and my son was cleared on the third day but I had a 11cm hematoma form around my incision so I was kept for an extra day (my c-section was on Friday the 7th and we left Tuesday morning the 11th) but they obviously let us all stay the extra night. Just make sure your doctors will fight for you with your insurance if the stay is longer!
I had my emergency section at 2am and was walking out by 12 the following day ☺️
