Feeling a bit deflated

I had my early scan today and based on my when I had my last period I’d worked out I was 8w0d however, they told me I was measuring 6 weeks! So I’m really confused now but I think it’s due to me having irregular periods

I had scan at what should have been 6w 3d going off lmp... measured 3.2mm which put me at 5w 3d....went back a week later and that put me at 6w 6d and measured 8.5mm with strong heartbeat x

@Zoey it’s really confused me as well tbh. I tested positive on the 9th March the math isn’t mathing 😂

@Chrissie that’s good to hear, I guess it’s so hard at this stage isn’t it as they’re so small. So glad you got to hear the heartbeat too. Xx

It's easier for medical professionals to calculate from last period first day. But you might ovulate 14-17 days after your first day of period, the time frame when you actually got pregnant. That's why math is not mathing.

Same thing happened with me I thought I was 7 weeks bang on but when I went for the scan I was only 6 weeks 1 day🥺 I’m happy I have a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat but when she said that I was just instantly sad and idk how to describe it.

I was the same had a scan on Saturday that put me around 6 days earlier than I thought. I’m now 7 weeks 1 day. But seen strong heartbeat and measuring at 9mm. Now to be patient for the 12 week scan 🙈

So when you go for your 12 week scan will they tell you what you’re measuring by their calculations?

@Kate yeah I get that as I said in my post I was just feeling quite deflated. It’s a bit frustrating to be a week further back than I thought.

@Georgia yeah I get you, they couldn’t detect a heart beat at mine as the baby was too small so still gotta wait a week or so.

This has happened to me too - I thought I was 6w+5, but had a scan and they put me back to 5w+1 (I’m now 6w+1). I have to have a rescan in a couple weeks to check as they could only see a gestational sac and yolk - no baby. I know I ovulated late so maybe my dates were wrong, but it’s a shock hearing you’re earlier on than expected! Hope all is ok with you x
