Growth scans 🤍

It just looks like she’s below the 50th percentile. but she’s above the 10th and 3rd line so idk doesn’t seem that small to me. I was induced and my son was in the 10th percentile. Inducing bc she’s between 10-50% seems weird to me but 🤷🏻‍♀️ i’m not a doctor

This is a little hard to interpret. From my read it looks like baby is about 5lbs. Maybe they’d expect baby to be 5.5 or more based on the chart. 5.5 would be 50th percentile. Seems like she’s not that far off which is great. I could be interpreting the chart wrong, though. What do other people think?

You aren’t due till the 23rd you’re fine. Plenty of room for baby to grow more. I had my baby 2 weeks early and he was 6lbs 3oz that’s a in between not too big not too small. When we left he was 5lbs 8oz at his recent checkup he was 5lbs 14oz. I think you’ll be ok. Baby will grow more by the 23rd.

@Alana no I’m having a scan tomorrow and possibly being induced Wednesday she may not be staying in until the 23rd x

taking a look at it again, it might be bc she’s dropped percentile. Bc if you look at it she went from the 50th line to below it. I think they might just be looking to see that she’s going up and not going down. They gain a lot of weight in the last few weeks so if you aren’t staying at the same percentile (or above) and are going down they might suspect fetal growth restriction

Okay gottit .. she did drop kinda significantly then and with you possibly getting induced I could understand the concern.. for now I do want to say that you pray hard.. if she’s only 5lbs and they’re not giving you anymore time to keep baby in.. then when she’s born she may be 5lbs but drop to 4 lbs and something and that would be a reason they admit baby into nicu. But I’d advise you don’t stress it, baby will be okay

@Alana I just want to know the likely hood that they’ll induce me on Wednesday I have one booked it in but they said they could cancel it

Yes wait for that scan to see if she’s grown any further and then if she hasn’t your OB should let you know if you should go through with induction or not. They could induce you Wednesday but me personally I’d advise against it unless baby is showing no fetal growth. Hope everything goes well and hopefully baby has grown

It looks like baby is below the 50th percentile in terms of size/weight. It may just have been a bad timing for your previous scan as looks like baby was fine. They tend to have growth spurts at certain times instead of just steady growth so could just be baby hadn’t had their growth spurt at your previous scan. I think it’s only a cause for concern if you drop down more in this growth scan as could mean placenta has stopped working effectively, if baby stays on track everything will be fine x

They're guessing, their estimation is never 100% accurate. However it looks like they believe her growth has slowed, as tala said she dropped a few percentile. My guess is that if her estimated size hasn't increased as much as they want it to, that they would definitely push the induction. This happened to my son but a little later in pregnancy and they said it seemed like he may not have been getting as much nutrition as he needs to grow to their projection. If that is the case, it's not your fault, the placenta can only do what it can do. This all sounds very scary but it happens allll the time and my son is now a year old and a happy, chunky baby. You have the right to ask for all the information and decide whether or not you agree to an induction, if that's what they recommend tomorrow.
