Some information I’ve found: Before 6 months, babies shouldn’t have water because: 1. Breast milk or formula provides all necessary hydration – Even in hot weather, extra water isn’t needed as milk is enough. 2. Risk of water intoxication – Babies’ kidneys are immature and can’t process too much water, which can dilute their sodium levels and cause serious health issues. 3. Can interfere with milk intake – Water fills up a baby’s tiny stomach, making them drink less milk and potentially miss out on essential nutrients. 4. Increased infection risk – If water isn’t sterile, it can introduce bacteria, leading to illness.
I’ve been advised to multiple times for my baby with constipation but only because he’s gaining weight really well. Cool boiled water only and only an oz at a time
I have to give 3mL of cool boiled water a day for my babies dispersible medication. As advised by GO, no problems x
You don’t need to give a breast fed baby water, as Jessica and Amy mentioned it’s not recommended before 6 months unless advised for a specific reason like formula fed constipation or for medication x
I haven't. Midwives have told me not to until he's 6 months when I asked them x
