Miscarriage

I had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago. Had medical management. I started bleeding last week which seemed a period and lasted 6 days. Now I'm experiencing brown discharge like I did in the pregnancy and the miscarriage. I've been still feeling a bit sick especially at night and I've had an upset stomach on and off like I did when I was pregnant. I have negative pregnancy tests and also negative digital. EPU said my upset stomach is my body adjusting still and not trying for a baby for a month or so and not to have sex for a bit. I did an ovulation test yesterday which was light and now today it's dark. I was wondering if you would be worried about the brown discharge/feeling sick? I don't know if I should contact GP. I just feel so anxious

Brown means the blood is old so it could be just a little more leftover blood from your loss. If you have a fever or anything then you could possibly have retained tissue which would need to be addressed as it can cause life threatening infection

@Lisa thank you for replying. Yeah I don't have a fever x

Can I just say please get a scan. I didn’t have a fever and went weeks bleeding j had retained tissue. Sorry this is happening to you xx

I agree with Danielle better safe than sorry. Definitely watch for a fever but by the time you have a fever it could be much more serious. When i had my second loss I was hospitalized and had to have an emergency D&C because I was dealing with uterine infection. It was a truly awful experience and I was very sick. The nausea could be an early warning sign, my nausea was so bad I couldn't keep water down and had to have IV hydration.

Thanks guys - I will give them a call today. Would you give EPU a call or GP? I called EPU on Friday and they didn't seem concerned or want to do anything. X

@Danielle hey hun, sorry to hear this happened to you. Did you have to take medicine or surgery for the retained tissue? X

I had medication after three weeks had a huge bleed. I lost nearly 2 pints and then it didn’t work. I still had some tissue retained so I ended up needing surgery anyway on week eight. Do not leave it I never had a temperature at any point didn’t feel sick. Just didn’t feel right but I did have brown discharge that was almost slightly stringy on and off.

EPU. Mine weren’t bothered in the slightest. I had to really advocate for myself.

@Danielle so awful. Yeah I had the same I had to go a&e and now I'm anemic they also gave me antibiotics. That was 4 weeks ago now. Yeah EPU didn't seem to care when I called on Friday. Just said not to have sex and wait for next period to TTC 😕 but yeah the brown discharge is the same as yours was and I had it throughout my pregnancy until I had the miscarriage. With my son who is now 2 I didn't experience discharge etc so I knew it wasn't quite right x I've contacted my GP this morning and just waiting for a call back. X

I actually took myself into the early pregnancy unit and refused to leave until they scanned me. I have the same throughout mine as well from about week eight until it ended

@Danielle well done for sticking up for yourself! We know our bodies when it isn't right xxx
