@Sarah thank you so much for your message. You don’t realise how much better that’s made me feel 😘
The cramping pain of your uterus shrinking back down is so bad!! If you’re just taking over the counter painkillers at the moment you can definitely get some prescription ones if they’re not doing enough. I’ve had two c sections and after a week with both I felt noticeably better. After the first I remember it was 5 weeks and I literally felt no effects from the surgery. I’m 4 weeks and 3 days out from my last C-section and feel almost totally normal again! It will get better fairly quickly. If you press a pillow into the area near your incision it can help with laughing or sneezing or coughing.
I’m 6 days post C-section, and I didn’t start feeling even a little better until day 5. I remember laughing, then immediately crying and begging my husband to stop making me laugh because it hurt so much. I promise, it does get better. Those early days were so rough—I was in so much pain, I couldn’t even enjoy newborn snuggles. Now my wound feels better, but oh, it’s so itchy. And those contraction-like pains? Totally normal, especially when breastfeeding. Your uterus is shrinking back down, and it can be really uncomfortable. Be gentle with yourself, rest as much as you can, and know that you’re not alone. You’ve got this, and soon the pain will start to ease. Sending you so much love.
