Commenting as also looking for recommendations! Our little one as always been a poor sleeper waking between 4-6 times every night, never slept through and we are lucky if we get a 2 and a half hour stint in one go 🫠 she seems to do better if she sleeps next to me, but this is in our bed. We have a cot bed, but thinking the floor bed might be a safer option and like you say can lie with them. I've seen lots of nice floor bed frames - but struggling with matress!
We switched to a floor bed around 8 months - so much easier! He likes having more space. I have made the room safe in case he gets up for a wander (hasn't so far!) and he knows how to safely climb on and off the bed. I find it much easier to settle him as I can just lie down next to him - although I often fall asleep 😂
@Louise I have heard of the 18 month sleep regression but I guess we got too complacent in thinking it wouldn’t affect us 😅 I’m hoping whatever this is will correct itself soon as we can all go back to undisturbed sleep 😵💫 we’re on day 6 currently and it feels like forever hehe. At the moment she’s standing up in cot at each wake and refuses to settle back down until one of us goes in… we then have to lean over the cot, or sit on the floor with our hands through the sides until she drinks back off… but even then she won’t fully go back to sleep and keeps checking we’re still there 🥴 think I’m going to set the camp bed up tonight and just sleep next to her!! And yeah, that’s my only worry about a floor bed… is she going to think “weeee, I’m free” creating a whole other kind of nightmare!! 🤣
@Suzanne oh god, I feel for you!! We were hit with every early sleep regression but she’s given us a lovely 10 months of sleeping through the night… and now this has hit us and I feel like I’m losing the plot 😵💫 I’m so tired!! I’m reluctant to bring her into our bed as she’s such a fidget and she’d probs think it was play time!! I’ve seen some lovely floor bed frames too… I am tempted… and if we end up sleeping in there with her for the foreseeable then I guess we’ll just have to go with it 🙃 Would a standard mattress be okay now? I guess still a firm one… 🤷🏻♀️ I’m thinking of getting a double sized so it’ll allow for the extra space… especially as she is such a wriggly sleep worm!!
@Lucy hehe that’s my thinking- I just want to sleep!! Her room doesn’t have a lot of things/furniture in so wouldn’t take much in the way of baby proofing… Do you have a floor bed frame or are you just using a mattress with slats underneath? Are you using a specific mattress or a standard one?
We have a floor bed frame, just so it's a tiny bit off the ground to allow some airflow. It's just a standard mattress, but we did choose a fairly firm one 🙂
@Kimberly his big boy room is lovely. Can I ask where u got the bed from please
@L15 thank you ☺️ It’s from Bed Kingdom, in the toddler bed section (even though the size is a single bed, there are lots of different types to choose from) they’re usually lots of promo codes too that you can add (eg extra £20 off if you create an account) https://www.bedkingdom.co.uk/flair-canopy-house-bed-frame.html
@Lucy I spent the night on the most uncomfortable camp bed last night so I am buying floor bed and mattress today! 😅 thank you!
Let us know how you get on with the floor bed and if it improves sleep! Good luck 🤞🏻
I know every baby is different but my LG had a bit of a sleep regression 4 weeks ago (18 months sleep regression which I understand is quite common) and it only lasted about 1-2 weeks and now she's back sleeping 12 hours in her cot. I personally won't be switching to a proper bed until she's showing signs of being able to climb out of her cot as she's a whirlwind and I know she'll be trying to run around all over the place 🤣
