Constipation in one year old

Has anyone else found their baby/toddler having constipation when switching to cows milk? My son was due April 5th and born March 24th, he really struggled for two days crying in pain so gave him some luctalose I think it’s called and it helped him yesterday to finally unblock himself, doctors have booked an appointment for 2 weeks time! But I’m unsure what to do until then with his milk, Receptionist was rude saying nothing she can do about it and gave me some advice but I’m not sure about her advice as she’s not a doctor or professional… said if he’s clear now just keep him on it

We’ve had constipation when starting solids which is ongoing. We find prunes, pears and apples help, as well as increasing water intake and lactulose as and when needed.

@Hannah he’s been fine since on solids but changing over to cows milk I think has made him constipated

Cows milk is high in lactose. He might be struggling with that as it can be hard to digest, and it giving him gas which is making it painful to poo, hence not going. You could go back to his formula, or part formula part cows milk whilst you wait to see doctor? Could try probiotics - they wouldn’t hurt and contain lactase which would help if it’s this. Or indeed just keep him on the cows milk and give him the lactulose as needed.
