Severe Stabbing Pain Under Breast Post-C-Section – Anyone Else?

Hey mamas, I’m about a week postpartum and have been experiencing an intense stabbing pain under my breast area that makes it hurt to breathe. Until I take ibuprofen, the pain is so bad that I’m completely immobile and gasping for breath. Has anyone else dealt with this? I’m wondering if it’s related to the C-section or something else. Any advice or similar experiences would be really helpful!

I had a pain like this only a few days after having my baby, the midwife told me it was trapped wind. Apparently it can be quite severe from a c section delivery. She advised me to drink peppermint cordial and after a few days I felt alot better but I had the pain around my ribs, chest, shoulders and neck area. Xx

@Emily Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This sounds so similar to what I’m going through. The pain is absolutely intense, and I wouldn’t have thought trapped wind could be this bad. I’ll definitely try peppermint cordial and see if it helps. It’s reassuring to hear that yours improved after a few days!

Hiya I would get this checked out because this happened to me 8 weeks postpartum and it turned out to be related to gallstone attack due to hormone changes in pregnancy is the pain also radiating into your back?

@Didi The pain does radiate into my back as well, which makes me wonder if it could be something like that. I really appreciate you sharing your experience! 😮‍💨

I will send you a message now about the other symptoms I had x

Gastric pain is lethal! After my c section i had the same. Rennie tablets and peppermint tea! But the best thing that clears out gas is fennel seeds ( just soak or boil them and then drink it). Its like instant magic

Definitely get your gallbladder double checked for stones/sludge🤍

Sounds like trapped gas, GasX (simethicone) really helped me. Star of Anise tea helps. I’ve heard peppermint is good too but it’ll dry up your milk supply if breastfeeding

5 time c section mama. Moving. That is what moves the air out of your body. You have to start walking regularly a little bit everyday and increase as you go. Don’t underestimate the pain just the air alone can cause!

@Didi hi there, could you please message me regarding this also? I'm almost 3 months PP still with severe pain that radiates from my back all the way around my rib cage. Certain positions including sneezing make it hurt more. Nobody seems to know what's causing it 🥺

If you get to the bottom of this, please let me know. I'm 3 months PP with similar symptoms and nobody seems to know what's up 🥺
