Also wash your hands and your little ones hands, wash hands after being in the garden, touching plants, grass, etc, as it can irritate eyes a lot. I changed my little ones bedding, pjs daily and washed in hot water as well. Same with towels or any other clothing that she touches her eyes with.
Thank you so much this is super helpful, I hope your little one is okay now. It’s horrible isn’t it seeing them in this much discomfort. He absolutely hates me wiping his eyes to clean them & his little eyelids are so sore. Thank you for all the info 🫶 xx
I cleaned her eyes every hour with cooled boiled water. Changed her sheets, sleeping bag, pyjamas and towels daily. Kept my hands clean and hers and it went in 5 days x
I know bless him, it is so horrible! My little girl used to cry because she couldn’t open her eyes at all in the morning, I had to soak them and wait while she screamed. The wipes and cream really did make a difference for us and we use wipes all the time. Cream goes a long way, as you only use a tiny bit, but wipes are expensive, as we use them all the time 🙈 but they really do help. Little one had a gunky eye a few days ago and I used wipe in the morning and in the evening and she was fine the next day, I was worried she had conjunctivitis again, but she is fine. Me, my partner, even my mum uses the wipes if we get irritated eyes, allergies, etc. My little girl infected her eyes herself, she had a bad cold and really snotty nose, she was constantly rubbing it into her eyes, especially in her sleep, so caused herself conjunctivitis. That’s why I started washing everything daily to keep everything clean and washing her hands all the time. Hope your little one feels better soon!
My first got conjunctivitis quite a few times in the first year of going to nursery. The coolest boiled water on cotton wool really did help - doing it after every nap when they're all sticky. Sometimes this cleared it up without the drops (in a couple of days), but we did use the drops a few times too.
My little girl just got over her conjunctivitis. She was exactly the same if not worse, both eyes, really swollen and red. We got drops from the gp and this wipes and cream and we all used this wipes and cream if we ever have sore eyes, etc Wipes are very gentle and soothing, great for cleaning the eyes, cream is very soothing too. You can try it yourself to see what a difference it makes. Stay at it and it will clear, but carry on, as it cleared really fast for us and we stopped, but then it came back, so we carried on a bit longer.
