My 20m old is not talking. I mean he says a lot of nonsense babbling but he doesn't have any real words yet.
Mine says maybe 4 words. Starting speech therapy soon. I know kids develop at different speeds but doc recommended starting early intervention and if he catches up we can just stop going.
Mine JUST started saying more than four words. No, yes, daddy, uh oh. He’s almost 21m and in the last week just added a handful more! Moo, moon, mouth (although these all sound the exact same almost but he’s pointing at the appropriate word while saying), cold, ruff. Most of these were while reading…about three weeks ago I started to give him space to finish sentences in his favourite books and he’s finally starting to get involved I think. I was considering a speech therapist but my mom convinced me not to worry at this point. She’s had six kids and now 7 grandbabies so I trust her! I also hear him repeating his babble in certain situations. Like he’s definitely trying to say something but it’s totally unintelligible. And he has vowels wrong st some point - I think socks are “gocks” lol so there are likely more words he’s saying that I’m just not aware of yet.
When I let him watch Ms Rachel, he literally knows all the songs and all the words. He will say them before she even says them. But when I try to interact with him, he barely speaks. So I’m torn if I should be worried
Mine is talking but I think it’s due to the influence of big brother. Meanwhile big brother didn’t really have any words until 2.5. His pedi wasn’t worried. Kids develop on different timelines. Speak to a professional for sound advice & peace of mind!
