Getting home after having baby 👶🏻

Hi all! So we’ve recently been let down with a lift home after having the baby, I’m being booked in for my c section in for two weeks time! So really not long now (just waiting for my date). I’m just wondering if any of you have/had gotten a taxi from the hospital home with your newborn and what were your experiences? The only other option I have is to ask my partners mum, however we didn’t want anyone meeting the baby until a few days after they’re born at least! Any suggestions or recommendations would be great! I’m a FTM, so would take me and babies dad a bit of time to install isofix and car seat etc, just worried about having a rude taxi driver who gets impatient? Thanks all ☺️

I would say, if you’re taking a taxi home, just strap the seat in using the seatbelt rather than isofix it in. 😊

@Bec Thankyou, silly as it sounds I didn’t know if it was part of the car seat and we had to have it 😂 I haven’t got round into looking very much into them yet, we’ve had it brought for ages but I think I’m going to need a couple of YouTube videos to show us how to strap it in 😂 Thankyou, this has saved me a lot of worry xxx

Yeah second what Bec says. Just seatbelt it in. I can’t imagine there’s a taxi driver in the world who doesn’t expect a little bit of faffing around if they see they have a collection from the hospital.

We took a uber home and the driver helped us to do the seatbelt to hold the carseat, he had obviously done it before! You'll be fine! x

@Gaby Thankyou so much for the reassurance! I didn’t think this, but I know some can get a bit impatient! Thankyou xx

@Anais Thankyou! This is good to hear! Xx

Can you strap your car seat in with a seatbelt? It’s no safer on isofix, usually far easier to put in and the taxi driver likely won’t let you put an isofix base in incase you damage the car

Slightly unrelated but I work in the ambulance service and once heard a story of an uber driver who helped deliver a baby in the back of his car not once, not twice… but THREE times. Apparently he actually carried towels etc in his boot just in case after the 1st or 2nd time 😂 just a wee story to reassure you that there are very decent people out there!

@Ceri-Ann yes I can! I didn’t realise I could use it without! But I’ve just looked and I’m able to so will definitely do this! Thankyou x

@Catriona Thankyou so much! This is calming to the mind! 😂 xx
