Hair fall out

Hello, I was looking for some advice since my GP surgery and the ones near me constantly say they have no appointments available for months. I want to know if anyone else is going through the same thing. My hair started falling out after having my baby. I thought it was normal post partum hair fallout but it’s been happening for 2 and a half years now. I went through a lot of stress but I wasn’t losing so much hair that it was thinning badly. Even now my hair doesn’t seem thin at the middle and bottom. It’s very thick and curly. I always treat it with hair oil after a wash. I’ve used hair masks like the hair food stuff and I’ve not found that to work either. When I’m in the shower, hair gathers all around my hands. It’s so bad it blocks the shower drain up really easily. Then when brushing more hair comes out. Then the next day when I’m not showering, it’s coming out on its own and it’s everywhere! My kid always shouts hair now every time I give something to eat as somehow a hair has fallen in and then she’s eaten it. It gets into my food too. It’s all over my clothes. I’ve still got some stress in my life but not nearly as bad as before and I don’t see a major difference to my actual hair. I feel like my scalp at the top you can see a bit more, but that’s about it. I’m sick of seeing the hair everywhere. Every time I hoover(3-4 times a week)there is so much hair it wraps around the suction part on the attachment and I have to rip it off. It is very annoying. Any tips or advice? I’m losing patience and considering shaving it off and starting again but would that even change anything?

I could have written this post myself! It's so disheartening. Mine is visible thinning but u put it down to recent weight loss

Are you on any medication? That's usually a big culprit for hair loss. If not, I'd be pushing for a blood test as you might be deficient in something.

Agreed if you’re not on medication you need to get a same day appointment at your GP surgery & ask for a full blood panel as your hormones should have returned to normal within 18 months after baby.. the fact it’s over 2 years indicates there is something else going on. Hair loss can be caused by zinc, iron , vitamin d/ b12 /b7 or even protein deficiency (hair loss specialist hairdresser here). Also say it’s affecting your mental health and they have to see you same day! Ring at 8am or whatever time your surgery opens! things like hair food etc won’t help as they’re just hair moisturisers so more for dry hair.. a great treatment for curly hair though is silicon mix off Amazon! check your shampoo is sulfate / silicon free as these can build up block hair follicles and cause hair loss. If a deficiency then easily treated if not there is other treatments that can be offered such as steroid injections into the scalp (but these don’t prevent future hair loss and are painful) xxx

@Louise only the progesterone only pill but I’ve been on that for years and been fine plus I’m really limited in options for contraception
