No scan booked at all ?

When did you have your first scan and when was it booked? I'm 7 weeks 6 days and I have an appointment booked for a screening at the end of April but that is the first and only appointment I've been given. Is this normal? They've made me go through this weird app called badgernotes so I've not actually spoken to any human being or had any information on what's going to happen going forward. This is my first child so I really have no idea how this normally goes but I'd like to know the pregnancy is progressing as it should and surely I need an ultrasound or scan for that? I'll be 11 weeks by the time they do the screening and it specifically says no scan.

That’s normal, you see a midwife at about 10 weeks and they’ll book your 12 week scan then :) x

@Sarah thank you so much that's reassuring!! :) x

I think seeing your midwife at 10w will differ depending on area, i didn’t see my midwife until 15w You likely wont hear from them for your 12 week scan until around that gestation they should just send you a letter with confirmed date, if you still haven’t gotten a letter with your appointment at 11w give the hospital a call and let them know you’re still waiting for your 12w scan appointment You haven’t spoken to any humans yet but don’t hesitate to call up and ask them what their process is and what happens from here x

@Olive admittedly I couldn’t wait that long and so I booked a private scan at 9 weeks just to make sure everything was okay but that’s obviously by choice and entirely up to you! It is a shame we have to wait until 12 weeks! Also - at the 12 week scan you’ll be asked if you’d like a blood test to check for things like Down’s syndrome and some others, again it’s your choice. Then you’ll see a midwife at around 16 weeks before your 20 scan which is a bit longer as they check all the different body parts are working like the heart and measure the head and stuff. Then from 26-28 weeks (seems to vary!) you’ll see your midwife every 2-3 weeks and they’ll measure your bump to make sure your baby is growing as it should and mark the measurement on a chart. You may need a growth scan if your bump measures a bit big or small but it’s not necessarily anything to worry about! I had to have one before and everything was fine, my baby was just laying weird which messed up the measurement! X

I'm 7 weeks today. I had phone app with midwife last week for my booking appointment, I've got my bloods getting done next week & scan booked in for 12th of May! Every health board is different x

in my area you get a letter not long after your booking appointment with the date of 12 week scan Xx

In my area you have your first midwife appt between 7 and 9 weeks then a scan 10-13 weeks. My midwife appt is for a home birth though so it may be different timings?

I'm nearly 8.5 weeks and haven't even heard from my midwife. I referred myself a week ago and had a link to badgernotes in an email, but not received a code to log in yet.. x

My scan was booked at the booking appointment.
