So mine lasted about an hour and was last Friday. They were delayed by 30 minutes as extremely busy. I had to have a test for MRSA. I had to do a urine test and get full bloods. They also gave me two protein drinks and explained it to me, to drink the morning of the csection. And also some meds to take the night before and morning of, again explaining everything to me. Then the anesthetist came in and went through my medical history and explained everything to me and allowed me to ask any questions x
Mine is on the phone on Thursday and I do everything the morning of the c section (meds, blood tests, swabs etc). My hospital seem very relaxed lol
Mine literally could have been an email tbh. They gave me an info sheet, asked if I had any questions and sent me on my way
They just took blood, and talked me through the procedure. Was like 20 minutes. Longest part was filling out the paperwork.
Took about 20 mins. Blood taken for cross match for theatre. Swabs taken for things like mrsa pre theatre. Urine test. Any last minute questions. Instructions for arrival.
Mine was literally 5 minutes, they took my bloods and that was it. I’d already been given my omeprazole/fasting details/MRSA swabbing and all the rest of the general stuff though so it was in and out. I’ve had a previous section so didn’t really need to talk through the surgery as such.
I think mine actually was an email 🤣 Mine was scheduled c section but literally the day before due to some complications. So they called me the afternoon before to come in the following morning. They sent an email with all prep information and then they did blood and ironed samples and meds the morning of my surgery when I arrived.
It depends why you are have a c-section, if there’s complex needs for you or the baby the appnt will take longer. They will likely just explain about the procedure and see if you have any questions.
