Elective C section

Does the consultant book in for elective c section date after the appointment with consultant or they will call back later for confirming the dates? Because I have my C section consultant appointment at 35 weeks which is really late, just wondering will I get a date booked in on that day itself or need to wait for another phone call? Already over anxious

It depends on the hospital. I’m currently in London and they said if I wanted an elective section they’d give me a date when I first saw my consultant at 20 weeks. When I lived in North Yorkshire they gave you a date around 36/37 weeks for around 39 weeks but on the basis that you knew it could change x

I had my appointment at 35/36 weeks and there it was agreed I would for a c section and the nurse in the room with me called up to maternity to get dates and we picked from there to go in about 39 weeks for my section. That was nhs fife though so could be different dependent on where you are x

I got a different phone call to the consultant app.

My phone call with the consultant was at 28 weeks, we agreed i’d need one when i’d just turned 39 weeks and I got a text (with a link to a letter) confirming the specific date and time of the section the next day so yes I imagine you’ll get your date then or if not very shortly after!

It depends on your hospital trust. I had a consultant appt at 36 weeks and did my consent forms, and had a general chat about the procedure. I then got a phone call at 38 weeks for my section during week 39.

With my nhs trust they have a team that books it and then calls you with the date and time. For me personally I got the call on the Friday and I had my c section on the Wednesday
