This is our rough routine! If we're out and about I'll just move the naps back/forward and adjust wake up and bedtime! We've only been doing this for a couple of weeks. I just started doing the same things each day, if he wakes up early I'll just move everything forward slightly. I know routine isn't for everyone I've found it helpful to make sure hes getting enough sleep/feeds ☺️ Wake: 8 Feed: 8:30 Nap: 10-10:45 Feed: 12 Snack: 1 Nap: 1:30-3:30 Feed: 3:30 Tea: 6 Bath: 6:45 Feed: 7 Story: 7:15 In bed: 7:20 Asleep: 7:30 I started doing a short nap at about 5, but he didn't seem to need it anymore. So I moved our lunchtime nap back slightly.
@Olivia Asleep at 7:30 and awake at 8am? 🥹 Does he wake up/eat at night at all? If we fall asleep at 7:30 we’re up at 5 and I wonder what’s the secret
@Sophie yeah 😊 we have a feed during the night at about 3am then he goes back to sleep. Maybe too much day sleep too late in the day?
@Olivia yes we do have a few more naps, he cannot do more than 2h wake window so we nap at 5-6 sometimes 🫠
We worked backwards. She would always get tired around 6.50-7pm near the end of in the night garden. 3-3.5hour wake window max so get her up from afternoon nap no later than 4pm. Afternoon nap starts approx 1.30. Morning nap therefore 9.45-10.30 ish and wakes up 7.30am Our night sleep wasn't great and I had to feed to sleep a lot until she moved into her own room this was a game changer
We started to start more of a routine when baby girl hit 6 months! So far what has been working for us is: Wake: 6.30/7am Bottle Breakfast Nap: 9am-10ish Bottle Play Nap: 12-1ish Bottle Play Nap: 4-5ish Bottle Play Bath: 6:30 Bottle and bed by 7:30 She snacks a bit during the day, We have had to do this consistently for a few weeks and we’re finally seeing baby girl adapt and naturally start to sleep at these nap times! I have been trapped in the house most of the 2 weeks to make sure she’s home for nap times but it’s working slowly!🥰
Ours is a bit more controversial as buba girl don’t go to “bed” until I do. However for example today went like this Wake& Bottle @ 9:00am Nap @ 12:00pm Purée @ 13:00pm Bottle @ 14:00pm Nap @ 17:00pm (she cat napped around 15:30pm which only lasted 20m so she had another late nap) Purée & Bottle @ 18:30pm Nap @ 8:30pm (which will be a cat nap) Bottle& Bed @ 10:30pm She will then go down for the whole night after this til around 8:30-9:00am and tomorrow we go again! 4 bottles a day & 3 main naps. This is what works for us, I don’t usually do the whole bath bottle bed routine as she doesn’t need it to settle. I don’t think each day is a routine either, I literally just take every day as it comes. I have around 4.5-5 hours between bottles and around 3 hour wake windows xxx
@Aimee I had a very similar routine with my son who is nearly 3 went to bed late every night and he slept through till 9am, we slowly started putting him to bed earlier and earlier as time went on but I think for the first year he went to bed when we did. But this time round with my daughter it worked for the first few months but now she wakes up once a night even if I put her to bed late so Im now trying to get a routine with her where she has a bath bottle and bed 😂 it worked last night as she went down just after 8pm and slept through till 6am. I don't think a bath settles a baby either to be honest but if you do the same thing every night then I can imagine it'll work🫣🤞🤞 keeping my fingers crossed lol as little ones are in the bath right now while I type this my son is no bother he sleeps till 7am - 9am depends when he feels like getting up. It's just my daughter 😂😂🤞🤞
Hi. I think a good first step towards building a routine is to follow appropriate wake windows/nap gaps. My little one was born at the end of September and has three naps a day. He has his first nap 2 hours after waking up. He then has each nap after that 2-2.5 hours after waking from the last one. Wake Bottle Nap 1 (2hours after wake) Bottle Bottle (I offer a bottle here, he doesn’t always drink much. I just want to make sure he isn’t going to wake early from his nap due to hunger, I like this as a longer nap) Nap 2 (2-2.5 hours after Nap 1) Bottle Nap 3 (2-2.5 hours after Nap 2) Bottle Bed - time varies depending on how naps have been that day. I don’t wake from naps unless I need to to fit in with outings etc He tends to have a 13 hour day time and 11 hour night time if that makes sense. So if he wakes for the day at 6.30, bedtime is likely to be around 7.30. I think if you’ve no routine at all, looking at nap gaps is the easiest way to start.
@Rhiannon haha I do think my girls an angel and if I was to have another they’d be the complete opposite 😂😂 I guess trying the bath is to get their energy out which in turn tires them so I suppose it would work in hindsight! X
This is my little girl routine 6-7am wake up, breakfast with 5oz bottle, bum change get dress for the day She will then play. 8:30/9am Nap time (I use this time to get my self ready and do housework and some washing also prep for dinner) 11:30/12pm wake up, snack, water or milk. She will then have floor time with her toys. 3pm: 1 hour nap 4pm bottle 4/5pm dinner with more play 6pm bath, baby massage, pj's 7:15pm bottle, bedtime story, bedtime snuggles. 7:30pm lay in cot 7:45pm sleep.
Every night you could do bath, bottle bed. Just let little one kick in the water, I don't wash my little one every night I just put bubbles in. At the moment my little one isn't drinking much milk she's weaning and her bottles are so unpredictable, I think she's having 3-4 bottles a day now and wakes up once during the night
