Breaking Toys

Are your 5 year old going through a phase of breaking their toys??? I'm losing it over this, it feels like every day he has broken another toy. My next door neighbor does this too and she's the same age and I feel like was a little influenced from her but I also think maybe he's just exploring but it's getting out of hand. Idk anyone else? Not normal? It's not even destructive/violent matter , it's just like oh let's see how i can make this work another way or something 😒.... I'm just over it because toys aren't cheap 😭🥲✋🏽

Yes!! My almost 5 year old boy breaks it and puts it together.sometimes we are able to put it together but most of the time it’s broken. The boys are wired like that. lol I think it’s their way of connecting the dots on how something’s work.

my almost five year old does the same thing. I stopped buying toys that he can break and started buying Legos. I like the creator series. he can already do some for 7-9 year olds.

I get it! You’re not alone lol my son also likes to make an activity out of unscrewing his toys , taking the batteries out just to put it back together again. Lol

It’s a kid thing. They love exploring new boundaries and sometimes things get hurt/broken. With my daughter I just take away any small or sharp pieces and leave her with what’s left. If she comments on it being broken, I gently explain that *she* broke it, we have to play with our toys correctly, and what we have left is all she’s going to get right now

He has asked me “mommy can i break this” my advice is to tell him we are kind to our toys and things we care about. If it breaks, you won’t be able to play with it anymore. It’s helped for mine! ❤️

Yep my 6 & 4 y/o loves breaking their toys 🤦🏽‍♀️
