Milk sick up - help!

Whenever my baby feeds there seems to be a lot of let down. My boobs produce way more milk than he needs and he almost ends up choking on it from how fast it’s coming. I try and give him rests in between but he gets so sleepy feeding and it’s literally impossible to wake him up. Advice? X

I’ve just been to a breastfeeding group this morning for advice about the same issue. The lactation consultant helped me get a deeper latch as a shallow latch can mean baby gets too much milk in their mouth and finds it difficult to swallow. Also trying different feeding positions can help. Reclining back in a chair when feeding has helped me! I latch her on sat up then lean back. Would definitely recommend going to a local breastfeeding support group or asking health visitor for advice. Keep going and you’ll get there x

@Christie thanks so much! He defo latches but because my boobs are so big it can sometimes be hard to get a deep latch. I am only on day 5 so hoping the boobs will regulate.. I’ve also had to pump to take the edge off xx I’m in hospital at the moment as the baby has had jaundice but I will be able to try various positions and go to support groups when I’m out of hospital x

Hope baby is ok as you’re out soon. Also pumping an ounce or so before baby feeds can help. Might take a few times with the reclined positions etc but I would keep trying. And yes day 5 boobs are quite full it does start to ease x
