No words yet 🙁

Hi all my nearly 23mo LG is still not saying any words 🙁 spoke to the HV about 6 weeks ago and she wasn’t concerned yet and nursery have said they’re not worried but sent her home with a form to fill in today about progress and obviously she’s no where near the speech categories for 2yo - we do everything we can to encourage speech and she is babbling - loves books - loves songs etc but she just doesn’t copy what we say ….. is she going to be ok? I can’t help but worry constantly and it’s really affecting my enjoyment of family time 😥 there’s still time for progress isn’t there ? TIA anxious mummy xx

My little boy is exactly the same!

One of my cousins didn’t say a word until he was 3ish and then just opened his mouth one day and started talking in complete sentences. Kids take their own journeys! I’m sure that doesn’t stop you from worrying, but if the HV and nursery aren’t concerned yet then hopefully it is all okay? Can you talk to your GP about it? Does she communicate in other ways? Like baby sign language, pointing etc. I had concerns at one point about my daughter’s speech and the HV said as long as she was communicating (she was using signs, but never really babbled) then I shouldn’t worry too much. It’s so hard not to worry as a mum, but there is still lots of time for her to learn and develop! Good luck mama ♥️♥️
