Diet while breastfeeding

Did any of you girls did a protein shake diet during breastfeeding to lose weight? I mean replace 2 meal with the shakes, it is safe? Did effect milk supply? I’m 9 months into breastfeeding and I can’t lose weight so I’m think to go on this route, any suggestions? Thank you

I would suggest speaking to a healthcare professional. I mean in theory you could, but you could also just eat smaller balanced meals with the same amount of calories as a shake. I would be concerned that even if it did it you’d be lacking nutrients from a balanced diet which means your baby wouldn’t receive them from your breast milk

I wouldn't while your breast feeding. It would be better to choose higher protine foods with healthy fats which will help keep you feeling fuller for longer. Quick fix diets where you stop eating normally always make you gain again once you stop and usually you gain more after stopping. It's far better to just change the composition of what you eat. Eating fruit and veg that are naturally low in callories alongside a mix of fats, protines and carbs which are ideally slow release carbs like brown rice is. Doing that you will eventually loose weight when combined with some exercise. You don't even have to go full pelt with exercise.

I have protein shakes all the time and am breastfeeding, although am not trying to lose weight and have them in conjunction with a full and balanced diet. As everyone above has said, it'd definitely be a good idea to speak to a doctor about this.

You can take a breastfeeding protein shake made for mums there are brands out there for it. I managed to lose my weight just by being out and about every day though like an average of 12k steps a day. (Burning 300 cals) But that shake doesn’t replace a balanced diet it just replaces one of the meals in a day of a balanced diet. Still need to eat healthy and in smaller portions. I up my activity and do weights and manage my steps because I want to stay strong and toned and work my pelvic floor strong, not directly for weight loss but by doing those things, the weight loss naturally follow

Thank you ladies for your suggestions 😊
