Planned C section Monday

Heyyy having a C section on Monday right at 38 weeks! I am sooo anxious about it now... and wondering if anyone has had their baby with a C section? Or had their baby at 38 weeks? What was it like?.. (reason OB planned it for 38 is because of a cornual ectopic pregnancy a longtime ago...) Thank you!!!

I had a planned c section at 39 weeks, and I loved it, honestly. My first baby was an emergency c section, so the scheduled one was amazing in comparison 😅 It's very chill when it's scheduled, and all the doctors and nurses are a lot more relaxed, which i think helps the mom to stay relaxed. Recovery wasn't bad for me. Just make sure you try to get up and move around as soon as you are able to. Don't push yourself too hard, but little walks around the room and to the bathroom will help you recover faster. I found it helpful to wear a belly binder after the c section. It helps support you, and the pressure feels good.

I had my baby at 37 weeks, emergency c section. To be honest you have nothing to be anxious about I wish I had planned it. So you’ll be perfectly fine, just don’t push yourself smalls walks everyday. Your legs will get swollen for the first days which is totally normal, it will be gone I didn’t know that and I was so scared when i saw mine haha. I did not have huge pain after operation. Sending you and the baby good vibes, you’ll both will be amazing!

My first was an emergency c-section at 38w2d & my second was a scheduled one at 37w2d. The scheduled one was way better. They explain everything they’re doing or are going to do & actually make sure you’re completely numb from the chest down. Ask me anything you have specific questions about.

@Katie @Karen @Taylor thanks so much! That's really reassuring! Today I barely did anything and couldn't stop thinking and getting anxiety but feeling better now! Thanks!!! Do they play music in the room? Or do you just hear everything they're doing? Did any of your babies went into NICU for a bit? Or do they just give them right away? Thanks!

In ny experience, the machines and everything are noisy enough that it's too loud to hear much of anything other than the people in the room talking to each other. My babies did not need to go to the NICU, but I wasn't able to hold either of them until after I was moved to the recovery room - with my first baby i had to wait longer because it was under different circumstances than a normal, scheduled c section, but with my scheduled one they closed me up and took me to the other room and I got to hold her right away. They did all of the weighing and checking vitals for the baby in the operating room while I was being closed up, so we never had to be separated at all.

I have heard of people having their own playlist going & if I had thought about it more, that would have been more pleasant. I recommend coming up with a birth plan & coming up with a Spotify playlist you’d like for them to play during the surgery. So, with my first being an emergency, I didn’t get to see him for a bit. However, with my scheduled, I got to see her come out & they let me meet her right away. I didn’t get to hold her, but they untied my arm so I could touch her. I had to get stitched up & wheeled into recovery before I could hold her, but keep in mind you might have body shakes. I don’t remember what causes them, but it happened both times. No NICU time with either of my babies.

I had a planned c section at 38 weeks. (Breech baby is why it was a C-section, and BP medication and blood clots risk is why it was at 38 weeks) it was very calm, the healthcare team (there’s so many people in there) were great. I got skin to skin in the OR, my husband was with me almost the whole time (aside from when they do the spinal) I felt well cared for. The great thing about 38 weeks is that it’s still considered full term, so there is little risk from that standpoint, and no adjusted age required. The recovery from a c section isn’t great, but take your Tylenol and ibuprofen regularly, whether you think you need it or not it’s a lot harder to get the pain under control when you let it lapse especially in the first two weeks.

I had a planned C-section at 38weeks, I was more relaxed as well as the doctors and nurses. Unlike my first, which was an emergency. Recovery was a bit smooth as I started moving my legs in and out of the room. Sending you good vibes and love to you and your baby.

To be honest I can’t recall the music situation, mine was an emergency c section and mmm the whole induction and natural birth was so bad for me and for my baby (which could have been prevented) so yes my baby was at the NICU but it had nothing to do with the C section, everything was for the long process we went through. Like I said nothing to be nervous about, you’ll be amazing. Just ask a lot of questions to your doctors even write down all the doubts that you could have so you don’t forget, and if there’s something specific that you want just be very vocal I feel that was something I didn’t really do and that still hunts me.
