Gastric sleeve and breastfeeding HELP

My 19 day old is constantly cluster feeding like every hour for 10-20mins. I'm worried I'm not making enough milk for him. How did/dosleeve mummas cope?. I'm trying to breastfeed but feel like my baby needs top up with formula we are not sleeping and this mumma is at break point

Don’t have a gastric sleeve but I’m in the same boat and also worried I’m not making enough for him so commenting to follow😞 trying my best to increase hydration & protein intake

A gallon of water and protein helps! It is normal for a newborn to cluster feed. How often your baby feeds tells the body how much to produce

Just remember nipple confusion is a myth! We ran into this on day 3, he wasn’t getting enough from me. Coconut water seemed to help my production but what helped the most was getting some sleep and that meant giving baby a bottle for at least one feed a night. And then I started doing triple feeds to build up supply. Could just be cluster feeding but don’t be scared of the bottle, you need some sleep and I still breastfeed my little at 11 months. Good luck!!!

Babies Cluster feed at that age. Also no shame in trying a bottle after a feeding session. I combo fed my son for the first 6 months. He is 19 months old now and BFs a lot still, and eats food like a champ

There's literally nothing wrong with formula feeding. You may be attacked by exclusive breast feeding mom's, but there's nothing wrong with formula feeding. The only thing wrong is a baby not being fed. People can come at me, but I've said what I said. I'd rather have my baby fully fed and happy than have him hungry because I wanted to be stubborn and exclusively bf.

@Kaarin just wanted to say, nipple confusion isn’t a myth. I have seen it happen to moms as a doula and it’s awful to get through and resolve. It all depends on the baby, the type of bottle used and how it’s introduced.

girl, that sounds super tough, but cluster feeding is pretty normal for newborns, so don't stress too much; just keep feeding on demand and your milk should catch up! here's what the 'Heal Baby Care App' says.... "It's completely normal for a 19-day-old baby to cluster feed, as they are establishing your milk supply and their feeding patterns. Many mothers experience this phase, and it can be exhausting. To help increase your milk supply, ensure you're breastfeeding frequently and consider skin-to-skin contact, which can stimulate milk production. If you're feeling overwhelmed, it's okay to supplement with formula temporarily to ease the pressure. Remember, your well-being is important too. Have you tried any relaxation techniques or support from friends or family to help during this challenging time?

@Kaarin It's more preference than confusion! my son will no longer go on the breast after being given a bottle so I'm exclusively pumping, which sucks. My eldest son however would take either.
