My baby is 7 weeks and HATES the swaddle so we stopped using them when she was 4-5 weeks old. She’s in a sleep sack now and at first her startle reflex was consistently waking her up so now when we put her down in the bassinet we apply light pressure to her arms until she settles back down and it seems to help. She still does that leg wacking even in the sleep sack though! She lifts them allll the way up forming at 90° angle at the hip and then slams them down so hard…..so it may not be a swaddle issue 😅
Going through same. Recently started swaddling with one arm out and other arm on her chest. The arm out used to wake her up.. So I started applying pressure or holding it untill she fall asleep in her bassinet... this seems to be doing the trick from past 2 days.. post this Sunday (one week for one arm out swaddle) I would try to swaddle her with both arm out.. Also, I m making her wear a cotton sleep sack below the swaddle so When I remove the swaddle she knows the sleep sack..
I would get one of those zipper sleep sacks. They work well!
Don't unswaddle her until she's showing signs of rolling. Not worth it!!! Legs kicking is just standard and hilarious. You can also get the Happiest Baby swaddles that you can take their arms out but they still have the swaddle around their torso so it feels like a hug. It also gives their legs and hips more space.
My little one is 2 months right now and I heard about Merlin's magic sleep suit is a great transition from being swaddled. I will be trying that out when he hits 3 months!
