Teething?

Hello. I’m a first time mum so please be gentle to me the below question might sound silly. I think we are at the thick of teething! My boy has been extremely clingy, hard to settle which was never the case, can’t eat solids as much but drinks his formula, wants to be cuddled all day, cries more that usual, excessive drooling, slight fever. Question, does this sound teething or is it something else? He also does not close his mouth. Is that normal?? To add, he has a bit of cough and colds. Many thanks.

Clinginess can be separation anxiety which can start around 8 months, so could be unrelated to teething. But not eating as much, drooling, and crying are all signs of teething (but similarly could also be related to having a cold!) Does he have any teeth? The bottom incisors are usually first to come through, and usually cut somewhere between 6 and 10 months. But there are always babies younger or older than that, so it’s only a guide! But if he doesn’t have any as yet then there’s a good chance they’re on their way. They all cope with it so differently - my first cut teeth with no real difficulty, they sort of just appeared. My second made the biggest fuss and sleep went completely out the window for a couple nights! My first also didn’t really get separation anxiety but my second is the clingiest baby, and just isn’t happy with anyone but me. They are all just so different, but usually these things are phases and do pass - usually right as you think you can’t take it anymore.

My LG gets like this when her teething is bad.

My girl has all those symptoms but already has her 2 bottom teeth and has a cough/cold so it could be the cold. When my girl was teething she was chewing everything and clamping down on teethers but had no other symptoms

Not a silly Q at all x
